Nitin Patel is the Deputy CM of Gujarat. He was expected to replace Anandi Ben Patel after violent Patidar agitation, but the party took unanimous decision in favor of non - controversial Vijay Rupani. In 2017 Assembly Election, Nitin was expected to lose her bastion Mehsana. However, somehow, he sailed through. He was again made the Deputy CM.
The distribution of ministries has irked Nitin Patel in the new dispensation. He is obviously not happy. He has got a rough deal while his betenoire Saurabh Patel has been given plum ministry. In fact, Nitin Patel has given ultimatum to BJP. It will be interesting to see the steps he may take.

Profile of Nitin Patel
Nitin Patel was
born on 22nd June, 1956 in Visnagar, Mehsana district of Gujarat. He
was quite a brilliant student during his college days. His father Rati Lal
Patel was a well-known figure around the area known for his social works. He was
also known for being an active member of the BJP. After completing B. Com he
got involved in Cotton Grinning and Oil Pressing businesses. At the same time,
he continued to work for the RSS and the BJP.
He made an entry
into active politics in 1990 when he became an MLA in the Eighth Gujarat
Legislative Assembly. Since then, he has been a prominent face of the party in
Gujarat. He represents Kadi Assembly seat of Mehsana district.
He has held many
positions both in various committees and ministries. There is no denying that
he has justified trust shown on him with all responsibilities. However, his
inability to pacify Patel in the reservation drama is considered a blot on his
career. He had headed 7 members Committee to resolve the issue, but got little
or no success.
Interestingly, it is the same reservation issue which has made
him the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The politics of
Gujarat has changed after the exit of Narendra Modi. It is tantamount to a lion
leaving a particular jungle and as the news of the exit of lion spreads many
small time players/animals started to create drama.

Nitin Patel is
