Mulayam Singh Yadav is the former chief minister of UP, former Defense minister of India and the chief of Samajwadi Party, the ruling party of UP. He is considered as one of the most powerful politician of India. He is also considered as an icon for being a family man. Among Indian politicians only K Karunanidhi can be considered as close to his statute as a family man. He is also accused of accumulating huge amount of wealth, but he remains a socialist by heart, and as I have mentioned previously, a family man by heart.
It is because of these facts that his supporters got the shock of their lives when they heard about the illicit relationship of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Mulayam First Wife
Malti Devi was Mulayam’s first wife. She was a very charming and God fearing lady. She used to treat every member of Mulayam’s extended family as her own. It is because of her that the entire family remained unite during tough times.
Akhilesh Yadav was born in 1973 and Malti Devi took care of all of his needs while Mulayam got involved in the anti Congress (anti Indira) protests going ahead in the country.
They were seldom seeing each other during those years.
Sadhana Gupta and Mulayam Singh Yadav
Sadhana Gupta came into the life of Mulayam Singh Yadav during 1980s. She was a small office bearer of Samajwadi Party. However, she was quite beautiful and was endowed with amazing physical features. Mulayam Singh proposed her and Sadhana instantly accepted the proposal. It is not known publicly that when they got married. However, they had a son named Prateek in 1988. It means they had married before this year.
Mulayam Singh always tried to hide this relationship. Even he tried his best to conceal the identity of Prateek from the world during 1990s. However, because of political links of Sadhana Gupta, he couldn’t hide this relationship. First, his family members came to know about this and later the entire country. But, nothing was official and Mulayam was not ready to accept Sadhana as his wife in public. During this time, Sadhana got into touch with Amar Singh who was at that time in the good books of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Malti Devi, the first wife of Mulayam Singh Yadav, died in 2003. He was quite alone in personal life since then. At that time, he came further closer to Sadhana Gupta because of Amar Singh. After four years, Amar Singh persuaded Mulayam to accept Sadhana as his wife on a public platform. Mulayam did the same and hence in 2007 he accepted Sadhana Gupta as his wife.
Now, Sadhana Gupta is showing her power. She wanted Prateek to contest from Azamgarh during the last Lok Sabha election. However, Prateek refused. She later asked Aparna, the wife of Prateek to contest the election who got ready. However the family members decided to not let another daughter in law after Dimple to enter the politics. It would be quite interesting to see how Sadhana Gupta is going to manage this family empire when Mulayam will retire from the active politics (expected to happen in 2016).
